Delores “Dody” Olga Scheidegger Jones passed away July 25, 2024, in St. George, Utah.
She was born January 28, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Nelly Denzler and Arthur Scheidegger. During her childhood, Dody moved often through the Midwest and Idaho with her parents and brother. She moved to Amalga, Utah when her dad was hired as the head cheesemaker at the Cache Valley Cheese factory. While attending North Cache High School she met Norval Jones. After Norval served an LDS mission, they were married on July 24, 1953. Dody and Norval graduated from Utah State University in 1955. They spent a short time in the military and then returned to Newton, Utah, purchased the family farm and expanded the dairy.
She was the mother of four daughters, Diane (Marty) Spicer, Brenda (Rich) Vernon, Mary Ellen (Cindy Grosshans), and Karen (Wade) Pickett. She was an excellent homemaker and fantastic cook.
She returned to Utah State and received an elementary-education endorsement and teaching certificate. She taught the love of reading to first graders at Lewiston and Summit Elementary Schools.
Dody was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many callings. She and Norval served a mission in Anchorage, Alaska, a service mission as tour guides in the Paris, Idaho Tabernacle and served in the baptistry at the St. George Temple.
After retiring, Dody and Norval divided their time between Bear Lake, Idaho and St. George, Utah where they spent many happy times with good friends and family.
She loved reading, traveling, watching the Aggies and Utah Jazz, Bear Lake, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren and preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles, and two grandchildren.
Dody will be remembered for her strong work ethic, fiercely independent nature, contagious laugh, and her love of Diet Coke.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing at the Newton Ward Chapel on Wednesday July 31 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM, with the funeral service following at noon. Interment will be at the Newton Cemetery.
