Deborah Kay Clay, 52, passed away July 10, 2003 at her home in Richmond, Utah where she had been laid up from a terminally ill disease. Debbie is survived by her mother, Catherine Johnson of Richmond, Utah; two brothers and one sister: Mike Johnson and wife Gloria of Grace, Idaho; Dennis Johnson and wife Sharon of Conway, Arkansas; Nancy Garrett and husband John of Colorado; three children, Dale Clark of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Jeremy Smout of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Marlena Hardy and husband Cory of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Debbie had seven grandchildren: Cody, Mathew, Braxton, Brody, Zack, Aspyn and Swayd whom she all loved very much.
Deborah was born March 18, 1951 in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Glenwood High in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Deborah had worked several jobs before she realized that she was destined for a career in science. In 1988 she went back to school and attended Eastern Idaho Technical College and graduated in1990 with her Bachelor of Science degree. She then started her new job at EG&G with the knowledge that she worked so hard for. Then later EG&G switched over to Lockheed INEL. She worked there for five years then retired in 1995 where she then moved to Richmond, Utah. After all her three children were on their own, starting their own lives, she felt that she needed to be where her parents were. For the past 8 years Deborah has been a member of the Richmond community. She started a new job shortly after she moved here at Hyclone Laboratory.
Deborah is preceded in death by her father Marlin Johnson who had died March 14, 2002. Debbie is now reunited with the one man she loved the most, her dad. She will be dearly missed and loved by those she left behind.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Richmond 4th Ward Chapel, 150 South 100 East with Bishop Wayne Henderson conducting. Friends may call Tuesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at
