EAST GARLAND David Layne Hodge, 42, was called home to his Heavenly Father after a tragic automobile accident south of Riverdale, Utah, April 18, 2003.
Layne was born November 12, 1960, in Ogden, the son of David Farr and Emma Jean Reynolds Hodge. He was raised in Roy and attended Roy High School. He served an honorable mission for the LDS Church in Dearborn, Michigan. Layne married Rebecca Pierson on October 14, 1982, in the Ogden LDS Temple. His life was centered on his wife and four children, whom he loved dearly.
He was an active member of the LDS church and held many callings, including serving in the Elders Quorum, Young Men and Primary. He was actively involved in community sports programs, coaching and instructing many of the area?s youth. He is survived by his wife, and their four children: Zachary D., Jordan R., Kelsey and Rylee, all of Garland; his father, D. Farr Hodge, Roy; sisters, Dorean Alan Johnson, Keizer, Ore., Jyl Ken Olson, Logandale, Nev., Farlene Tony Sanchez, Ogden, Michal Micheal Radle and Lori Kurt Linford, North Ogden, and Lynda Roger Gibson, Roy. His father and mother in law, Reed and Yetta Pierson, East Garland. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Jean Hodge, and his grandparents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. at the East Garland LDS chapel, 4375 W. 15600 N., Fielding. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening, April 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, and Thursday from 11:30 a.m.?12:30 p.m. before the services at the East Garland church. Interment will be in the East Garland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at any Box Elder Credit Union in the name of the Layne Hodge Children?s Trust Fund.
