David Powell Choate, 86, of Onalaska, Texas and former resident of Logan, passed away February 4, 2004 in Livingston, Texas. He was born January 27, 1918 in Bozeman, Montana, the son of Isaac Watts Choate and Roberta Gammon Choate. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Aileen Moody Choate, 2 brothers: Robert and Lyman; one sister: Margaret and one great grandson, Matthew Choate. David was a Watchmaker and Jeweler by vocation. He loved woodworking, the mountains, traveling and popcorn; but his family was his first priority. He served his country during WWII in the US Navy and served his God and fellowman in many ways and capacities. He served as a bishop, a counselor, a teacher, and a loving man. His last years were made joyous by a wonderful companion, his wife, Marji. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ferrel Choate; Children: Laurie Paul Bride, Falle City, Washington; David ?Mickey? Marilyn Choate, Logan, Utah; Garry Sue Choate, San Ramon, California; Alice Michael Petro, Montoursville, Pennsylvania; Rebecca Gil Sandoval, Maple Valley, Washington; and Children by marriage: Lynda Jay Buckland, Onalaska, Texas; Grant Darlene Ferrel, Winston, Oregon; Kurt Quanda Ferrel, Houston, Texas; 27 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 3 great-great granchildren. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 7 in Onalaska, Texas. Local services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004 in the Logan 4th Ward, 294 North 100 East.
