David Kenneth Balls

David Kenneth Balls of Clarkston, Utah died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on February 24, 2010. He was 57. David was born December 29, 1952 to Kenneth Denzel Balls and Sarah Ann Clark Balls. He married Ann Griffiths on October 28, 1971 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with two wonderful sons, Richard and Benjamin. David was known for his loving and caring nature. He would have given anyone the shirt off of his back. Though he suffered from debilitating headaches he accomplished many things. He managed the Deseret Cheese plant for 20 years in Logan, Utah. From an early age David loved to study and learn. He was gifted in many capacities, but his true love was mathematics. He was a mathematical genius. He earned an Honorary Degree in higher mathematics. He also had an Associate's Degree in electronics from BATC. David enjoyed summertime walks with his beloved wife, Ann. During these walks, he loved reminiscing of his youth; working on his Grandpa Clark's dairy farm. David was a true Star Trek fan. In fact, Ann and David's first date was watching an episode of Star Trek. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the Lord and served in many callings. He always studied the scriptures for greater knowledge. David is survived by his loving wife Ann; his sons, Richard and Benjamin; his father Kenneth Balls and step-mother Venna Thompson Balls; two brothers and two sisters, Roland Balls, Kevin Cindy Balls, Shauna Balls, Rachelle Joddy Bodrero; step-sisters Nancy Shupe and Sheryl Shaun Byers; father-in-law and mother-in-law Daniel J. and Wilma Griffiths; brothers-in-law Jerry Griffiths, Scott Griffiths; sisters-in-law Jeanne Alan Lonas, Sue Dawn Scott Barney, and April Eric Storey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Ann, brother Raland, step-sisters Marilyn Godfrey and Julie Ross, maternal grandparents Maynard and Lenora Jensen Clark, paternal grandparents Denzel and Edna Alvey Balls. David had a wonderful sense of humor and shared it with everyone. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. We love you, David, and we will miss you. God be with you until we meet again. A small family service for David will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Clarkston 2nd Ward, 25 East 100 South, Clarkston, Utah. Friends and family may call at 1:00 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
