Dale Godfrey, 91, of Clarkston, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 15, 1917 in Clarkston, Utah to George John & Annie Amelia Thompson Godfrey. He attended the local schools growing up in Clarkston and married Maurine Buttars on May 12, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they raised a family of five children. Dale proudly served his country during WW II in the European Theater. Throughout his life, he worked for the WPA, State Roads, Forest Service and Utah Power and Light, as well as farming and raising a few animals. He had a team of draft horses for many years, which he used for his farming. He loved hitching them up and giving everyone rides and participating in the Pony Express parade. He always loved the outdoors; enjoying hunting, fishing, and walking through nature. He loved teaching his children, grandchildren and friends about the beauty of the wonders around us. He was well known by his family and friends for his yodeling, whistling, and love of music. Dale was always willing to help others and would give the shirt off of his back, even if it was the only one he had, but he didn't want a big deal made out of it. He was a very humble, loving man and his example will live on through his posterity. Dale is survived by his wife, Maurine; children: Khalil Sheri Godfrey, Clarkston; Sheila Doug Ballard, Logan; Kyle Tena Godfrey, Clarkston; Leone Dennis Scott, Deweyville, and LaNeita Godfrey, Clarkston. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. We love you Dad, and we will miss you. A special thanks for the kind service provided by Alpine Hospice and Wing 1 at Sunshine Terrace. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Clarkston 2nd Ward Chapel, 25 East 100 South, with Bishop Tim Goodey conducting.
