Clyde Ernest Carter

LOGAN?Clyde Ernest Carter, 87, of Logan, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2005, at the home of his sister, Adelia Bell, in Bountiful, Utah. Clyde was born January 7, 1918, in Preston, Idaho. He was the eldest child of Ernest Willmore and Anna Peterson Carter. Clyde attended school and graduated from Preston High School. Clyde also attended the University of Idaho at Pocatello. He graduated from the School of Pharmacy. After graduation he worked for Foss Drug in Preston. At the beginning of World War II, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was based in Wisconsin, where he met and married Valerie Lancin, on March 21, 1945. After the war, they made their home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He worked as a pharmacist for Thompson Drug Stores in Milwaukee. Valerie died on September 28, 1974. Clyde later married Thelma Wood on June 16, 1975. When he retired they moved to Cache Valley where they lived in Amalga and in Logan. He moved back and forth between Logan and Mesa, Arizona for several years. Thelma died July 16, 2000. Clyde was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints both in Milwaukee and Logan. At the time of his death, he was a High Priest in the Logan 4th Ward. Surviving are three sisters; Eudora Shuldberg, Terreton, ID, MarJean Ballif Lyman, Hooper, UT, and Adelia Wayne Bell, Bountiful, UT. He is also survived by two step-daughters; DeeAnn N. Gail Godfrey, Clarkston, UT, and JaNette Martin Kirkpatrick, Las Vegas, NV; 9 step- grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2005, at the Logan 4th Ward Chapel, 294 North 100 East, Logan, with Bishop John Whiting conducting. Friends and family may call on Wednesday evening, May 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, and on Thursday morning at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Preston City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with military honors. Online condolences may be extended at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
