Our dear mother Cleone Hubbard Petersen Dalley, 87, passed away peacefully January 2, 2009. Cleone was born on April 21, 1921, in Grace, Idaho, to Charles and Elsie Hubbard, the fifth of eight children, Ora Meacham, Melba Snell, Elvin, Merrill, Jack, Dale and Wayne Hubbard.
She was raised on the family farm and attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse, then graduated from Grace High where she was student body vice-president. Later she attended Moench Business School in Ogden where she met and married Rendall O. Petersen on March 7, 1942. Six children followed: Lynne Sanduk, Kris Foltz, Karen Johnson, Robert Lela, David Karen, and Doug Carla Petersen. The war years were hard on family life and they were later divorced. Cleone moved her family to Cache Valley in 1959 but continued to work at Hill Air Force Base and later Thiokol. She graduated from USU in 1966 and worked on campus for many years. She married Don Q. Dalley on June 6, 1975 and welcomed four more children into the family: Carol Ellis Child, Brenda Glade Schvaneveldt, Brent Billie and Alan Carol Dalley. Cleone and Don together have 32 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Cleone was very active in the LDS Church with callings in the ward and stake. She was called to be the RS President at the age of 74. She has been ward organist in every ward she has lived, as well as accompanying many soloists and singing groups. She and Don were also temple officiators.
She was born to nurture; caring for family, her mother, and her husband through many health problems. Traveling, gardening, oil painting, crocheting and walking regularly were some of her favorite pastimes. Being a very sociable person, she belonged to several clubs and has many dear friends.
Her six children and Don's four children survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband Don; four grandchildren; Scott Jacobsen, Gregg Jacobsen, Dustin Johnson, and Holly Beckstead and all of her brothers and sisters except Wayne Barbara Hubbard.
