Clair Leigh Selley

d. March 31, 2024

Providence

Clair Leigh Selley, 87, passed away March 31, 2024, in Mexico.  He was born on Feb 24, 1937, to Woodrow Leishman Selley and Guila Olsen Selley.   He spent his early childhood years on the army base in Texas and then in Pocatello.  Clair lived his teenage years in Springville, Utah helping his parents at the family owned S.O.S. Drug Store and graduated from Springville High.   Clair went on to study at the U of U.

Clair spent his summers in Cache Valley helping his family at their second S.O.S. Drug Store in Smithfield and working at Cache Valley Cheese.  It was there that he fell in love with two things – cheese and Tamara Pond.   He worked hard to learn everything he could about both.

He married Tamara Pond on February 16, 1960, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage.  Together they had three children.  Angala, Tony, and Shaun.  They taught them the value of a penny, the right way to do something, how important it is to treat people fairly, and how to unconditionally love.

After his retirement from Cache Valley Cheese, along with his business partner Doral Perkes, Clair opened Mountain Farms Cheese.  This was his second love.  He was good at his job, and he loved it.  Clair traveled the U.S. and met with client accounts, but more than that, he met with friends.   Clair and Doral sold Mountain Farms at the peak of business, and he started an early retirement.

This led to Clair living an epic life.  One that he had dreamed of.  He traveled the world with Tamara, they lived six months of the year in Mazatlan, Mexico, and he had friends and family world-wide.

Clair is survived by his daughter Angala Selley & partner Joey Smith (West Jordan), Tony Selley & wife Tammy Selley (North Logan), Shaun Selley & partner Lynn (Las Vegas), Three Grandchildren:  Paige Sanders (Statten), Karissa Peterson (Caden), and Easton Selley.  Five Great Grandchildren:  Oakley Tink, Piper Luana, Elmer Burley, Maverick Selley Sanders; and Kaylee Peterson.   One Sister, MeriAnn McQuarrie & Husband Neal and several nieces, nephews and cousins.   He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lynda and his loving wife, Tamara.

A celebration of life will be held at Nelson Funeral Home on Monday, April 15,  2024, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Please come and visit with the family.
