CLAINE CHUCK A. NELSON Tremonton: Claine Chuck Alvin Nelson said his goodbyes to his family and peacefully departed back to his Heavenly Home on November 24, 2002. He was born December 5, 1913 in Richmond, UT to Joseph Dean Nelson and Bertha Nelson Jensen, the 5th child of nine. He married the love of his life, LaRae Christensen, on February 5, 1946 in Pocatello, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. The most important things in his life were his wife and family, his church membership, and his church callings. As a member of the LDS Church, he was a high priest in the Tremonton 6th Ward. Claine graduated from North Cache High School and later moved to Tremonton in 1936. While living in Tremonton, he was employed as a auto salesman and as a fireman for Thiokol Chemical Corporation until retiring in December 1977. He also served as a member of the Tremonton City Volunteer Fire Department and the Utah State Fireman Association for 57 years. Claine served his country in the South Pacific from 1941 through 1945. He was a veteran of World War II. Claine was an ardent fishing and hunting sportsman, as well as enjoyed a good game of golf. Although he loved all types of sports, his passion was baseball, where he played at both the amateur and semi-pro levels in Utah and Idaho. In 1940, he was named All-State Player of the National Semi-Pro Baseball Congress. He is survived by his wife, LaRae; daughters, LeAnna , South Ogden; Michelle John Chicola, Salt Lake; granddaughters, Kala Robert Thompson, Meridian, ID; Suzette DeVerl Stokes, and their four children, Amanda, Natalie, Emily, and Nicholas, Eagle, ID; and two sisters, Geniel Vinson, Logan; Lael Arbon, Salinas, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, William Jensen; and six brothers, Dean Merlyn, Vaughn, Farris, Dallas, and Zan. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at the Tremonton Stake Center 660 North 300 East, Tremonton, with Bishop Burton V. Isaacson conducting. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, November 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and at the church one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
