Charles Ricks

Charles Ethan Ricks, 86, passed away at the Logan Regional Hospital on September 4, 2009. He was born in Benson Ward, Utah on April 2, 1923 to Alice Nutt and Joseph Alexander Ricks. He was the youngest of twelve children. He spent his younger years working on the family farm and helping his father dig wells throughout the valley. Charles, or Ethan as he was called, attended schools in Benson, Smithfield and Richmond. He graduated from North Cache High School in 1940. He was inducted into the US Army in February 1943 and served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Southern France and also stateside. Charles married Ellen Izatt, also of Benson, December 21, 1946. Together they raised 4 children. Ellen passed away in 1998. Charles was a sheet metal worker by trade for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #312 at the time of his passing. He was a master tinner and took pride in a job well done. He is survived by his children: Edward "Ted" Scott Mickey Ricks, College Ward; Janet Jeffrey Webb, Logan; and Michael A. Sandra Ricks, Benson; a sister, Ruth Charles Siefert, Lehi; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son; Charles Terry Ricks, an infant granddaughter and 10 siblings. In accordance with his wishes there will be no public viewing or funeral services. Interment will take place in the Logan City Cemetery.
