Chad F Smith

January 13, 1931 — May 24, 2023

Chad F. Smith, 92, of Smithfield, UT, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones on May 24, 2023. He was a loving friend, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Chad arrived on January 13, 1931, in Richmond, UT to Melvin Smith and Dorothy Whittle Smith. After spending his first 10 days in Richmond the family moved to Smithfield, UT where he lived the rest of his life. Later in life he was joined by a little sister Janice. Chad attended school in Smithfield and graduated from North Cache High School in 1949. He served two years of active duty in the U.S. Marines before transitioning to the reserves for six years.

On November 4, 1955, Chad married his sweetheart Nancy Siddoway in the Logan Temple and the two have been married for 67 years. Chad chose the date, also his Mother’s birthday, to assure he never forgot his anniversary. Chad and Nancy were blessed with four beautiful daughters Cindy (Joel) Teuscher, Trina (LaMar, deceased) Balls, Suzette (Ryan) Rock and Sandi (Willy) Hansen; along with 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Chad was a wonderful example of hard work and had many jobs. He worked for USU in the Veterinary Science Department “The Farm” for 38 years. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holding many callings, including Bishop of the 1st ward in Smithfield.

Chad spent many hours working in his yard and vegetable gardens, taking great pride in all he did. He enjoyed visiting with everyone that stopped by just to chat or get some gardening advice. Chad also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids following them to their sporting events, recitals, or other performances he rarely ever missed anything.

Chad was welcomed across the veil by his parents, in-laws, sister Janice, son-in-law LaMar, grandson Gabriel Hansen and several other family members.
