Catherine Myrtle Guttadauro Johnson Catherine Myrtle Guttadauro Johnson returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Dec. 4, 2011 at the Franklin County Medical Center, Transitional Care Unit in Preston, ID. She was 88 years old. Catherine was born on Sept. 30, 1923, in Cincinnati, OH. She was the daughter of Earl Duzan and Mae Hedge. She grew up in Cincinnati, being raised by her mother Mae and step-father Angelo Guttadauro whose name she later took. Catherine attended school in Cincinnati, where she was an active member of the Saint Clement's Drill Team. She had a love of song and dance throughout her life and was blessed with a beautiful voice. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels High School in Cincinnati. Catherine enlisted in the W.A.C. On Mar. 23, 1944 and was stationed at Pyote Air Force Base in Pyote, TX. She was awarded the American Campaign Metal, WWII Victory Metal, and Good Conduct Metal. The greatest blessing of her service was her beloved Marlin whom she met while they were both serving the country they loved. Catherine was married to Marlin Grant Johnson on Sept. 24, 1945 in Pueblo, CO. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She remained active in her church service having various callings. However her most cherished calling was that of mother and homemaker. Catherine and Marlin lived in Shelby, MT., Denver, CO., Idaho Falls, ID. and finally retired to Richmond, UT. Following Marlin's death in 2002, Catherine spent several winters with her son Dennis in Conrad, AR. and summers with her son Michael in Lago, ID. She became a resident at FCMC Transitional Care Unit in Preston, ID. when her health required more care than she could receive at home. Catherine loved her grandchildren and she enjoyed traveling. She combined the two loves and took each grandchild on a special trip following their eleventh birthday. Florida, Cincinnati, and a trip to NASA were among those trips. In 1972, Catherine enjoyed a trip to Italy with her father Angelo and sister Carmella Bens. Catherine is survived by sons, Michael Gloria Johnson of ID., Dennis Sharon Johnson of AR., and daughter, Nancy John Garrett of CO., 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 sisters, 2 brothers and a very special friend Arlen Butch Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Deborah and sister Gladys. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 10 at Nelson Funeral Home located at 162 E 400 N, in Logan, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:30-11:30 A.M.
