Casey’s earthly journey came to an end at age 44 and he is now in the Presence of Pure Divine Love. He died from a Kryptonite-induced weakness (kidding -- cause of death has not been determined, but it might have been Kryptonite).
Casey was born December 16, 1979, in Roosevelt, Utah and graduated from Union High School in 1998. He received several certificates from technical colleges and participated in SkillsUSA competitions in which he excelled.
Casey was the funniest person in any room and delighted in making people laugh. He was joyfully generous. He cherished his friends and took his friendships seriously. You could count on him to always respond to texts and be there when you needed to smile.
He loved Superman. He wanted to be Superman.
Casey fiercely loved his brother Jeff, who has Down syndrome. He was an incredible protector, advocate, and “best brother friend” to Jeff. Casey always put Jeff’s needs above his own and spent most of his life living in the same home as Jeff, providing care for him.
With a vivid imagination, Casey was a gifted artist. He was creative, playful, and sensitive.
Casey was spiritual. He loved and trusted in Jesus and followed his teachings. He knew the Bible but was not fond of organized religion. One of his favorite verses from the Bible that he wanted to live by was, “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Casey had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD. He was in a society that was not accommodating of the way his brain worked. He dealt with many hardships through his life. The world was not always understanding of him and was not always kind to him, but even in his most manic phases, his wildest dream was to “help a million people.”
He is survived by his parents, Lynn and Lynette Hansen; siblings, Jeffrey and Shawn Hansen and Shea (Adam) Fontana; niece and nephew, Kassidy and Kyler Hansen; stepbrother Paul (Jenn); and beloved and spoiled puppy, Jenny. He had an especially close relationship with his cousins Rachel, John, and Eric; his Uncle Danny; and close friends, Chris and Bart.
Services will be held on July 14, at 2:30 p.m. visitation from 2:00 to 2:30 at Alpine Church, 395 South Main Street, Logan, UT. Donations in honor of Casey and his desire to help people can be made to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at (988lifeline.org/donate).
(He would’ve loved the Kryptonite joke.)
