Carole Ann Germer Rhodes

September 6, 1938 — November 29, 2005

Carole Ann Rhodes passed away suddenly of an aneurysm on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at her home in Garland. She spent her final hours as she'd spent her life, in the company of those she loved, doing what she loved. She finished a satisfying day at her business in Tremonton and was just settling in at home when she was quickly taken. Carole's light burned especially bright here for a short 67 years and it now blazes on in our hearts, our memories, and on into the next adventure that awaits her. Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Friend, Lover of an amazing man, builder of businesses, promoter of her community, creator of beauty, gardener, singer of songs, faithful Latter-day Saint; Carole relished the many roles she was blessed with in life. Her children and grandchildren stand in awe at her incomparable love, unconditional support, amazing resourcefulness, brilliant creativity, and unshakable will. She ran the classiest businesses in two counties The Black Eyed Susan in Logan and The Sunflower Shop in Tremonton, cultivated the prettiest garden, taught the best manners, spoke the kindest words, made the best whole wheat bread, canned the tastiest peaches, organized the most innovative community events, and loved the kindest man in the whole world! Any doubt about these claims can be quickly cleared up by speaking with anyone who knew her well. God speed on your journey Carole. We love you and are profoundly grateful to have been a part of your life! Born September 6, 1938 to Phyllis Elliason Germer and Kenneth Louis Germer in Tremonton, UT, Carole was raised and lived out her extraordinary life in the Bear River Valley. She married her high school sweetheart Vaughn W Rhodes in the Logan Temple on September 14, 1960 and together they raised seven grateful children. Carole and Vaughn were married for 45 short years in this life and look forward to continuing their love affair in the next one. Carole was preceded in death by her mother, her father, and her baby brother Richard "Buzz" Germer. She is survived and celebrated by her husband, Vaughn, her brother Ron and sister Sally, her children Carrie Roger Norr, Russ Tora Sato, Matt Tori Sandall, Mark Tiffany Buxton, Brad Tami Banz, Amy Sean Lake, Allison Bradey Lee and by her 25 grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. December 2, 2005 and also the following day from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center located at 4375 W. 15600 N. East Garland, UT. A funeral service celebrating her life will commence at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the same location. Internment at the East Garland cemetery will immediately follow the services. In lieu of flowers, Carole's family suggests making a donation in her name to the Tremonton City Volunteer Fire Department c/o Fire Chief Steve Batis 435 257-7116 or your favorite community based charity.
