Newton ? Burton Jenkins, 94, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle passed away on Friday, March 14, of natural causes. He died at his home in Newton surrounded by his loving family. Burton was born on February 8, 1909, in Newton, Utah, to John and Anna Marie Jensen Jenkins. He was the youngest of ten children. He married Iona Jenkins on November 20, 1930, in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized on November 29, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. Burton was a lifelong Newton resident where he owned and operated a farm. He also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and for the Defense Depot in Ogden. He has always enjoyed the outdoors! He use to take his family often to Star Valley and Yellowstone to camp and fish. He enjoyed hunting with his sons every fall. Having family picnics up Logan Canyon was always a great joy to him. Burton was a member of the Newton LDS 1st Ward. He is survived by his wife ? married for 73 years, and the following sons and daughters: Don Jenkins, Providence; Barbara Daryl Green, Roy, UT; Ralph Veneta Jenkins, Twin Falls, ID; Richard Gwen Jenkins, Newton; Marjorie Erickson, Elwood, UT. 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, and one grandson. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, March 19th, 2003, at the Newton LDS Ward Chapel, 12 South 100 West. Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening, March 18th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
