Bonnie Ford Anderson passed away on September 8, 2024, after a long and valiant struggle with dementia.
Mom was born on May 23, 1932, in Morgan, LaJara, Colorado, to George & Alice Ford, the third of nine children, one of only four who grew to adulthood. On her 12th birthday her family moved to Smithfield where she lived the rest of her life.
Bonnie graduated from North Cache High School. She later worked at B & H Chevrolet in Logan, where one day, as she puts it, the cutest guy in the world, Scott Anderson, came in to apply for a job. And as he puts it, he thought she had the cutest legs in the world. The rest is history.
Scott and Bonnie were married on March 21, 1953. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on May 22, 1957. Together they raised three daughters and one son. Mom always made sure that we knew each one of us was her favorite. She was the best mom in the world!
Mom had a great sense of humor and always had a smile. She to tease and was always a good sport when we teased her back. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she thrived on taking care of us and everyone and anyone who needed taking care of. She worked hard all her life and taught us to do the same.
She, along with dad, taught us the gospel of Jesus Christ. She taught not only through her words but by her example. Mom had a great love of the Savior and showed it by the way she lived her life. She was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.
Mom worked many years for Dr. Raymond Malouf as a medical assistant. She loved this work and had the reputation for giving the best shots in the valley. But her favorite job was being a wife and a mother. She loved it when her family was all together. It would have been her dream if we could have all lived together in one big house.
Bonnie is survived by her four children. Janet (Scott) Ashcroft, Lora (Guy) Perkins, Everett “Tarz” (Karen) Anderson, and Leata (Gary) Jensen, all of Smithfield; 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 1 brother, Jack (Judy) Ford of Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, her son-in-law, Scott Ashcroft, 2 granddaughters, Michelle Ashcroft, Jennifer Ashcroft, Jensen, and one great granddaughter, Taylee Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Smithfield 14th Ward Chapel, 451 South 250 East, Smithfield, UT. Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday September 15, 2024, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, UT and Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at the Smithfield Cemetery.
Our family wants to express our deepest appreciation to Symbii Homecare and Hospice and all the staff at Autumn Care for their kind and compassionate care they gave our mom. They made a very difficult time easier for us. They are all amazing!
Thank you, mom, for teaching us to love and take care of each other. Thank you for loving us unconditionally. We had the best mom! Although, as all of us, she was not perfect, she was perfect for us!
