Smithfield - Blanch B. Walsh Walk, 88, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at Cache Valley Assisted Living Center in Providence. She was born August 11, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Albert Oliver and Susan Bird Walsh. Blanch grew up in Salt Lake and attended the local schools. She met Frederick Walk, Jr. and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 18, 1942. Together they settled in Salt Lake City. In 1969 they moved to Smithfield and continued raising their family of two daughters. Blanch taught in the Granite and Cache School districts before becoming an executive secretary to the Secretary of Institutional Council for USU. Fred passed away in December 1, 2001. She was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and faithfully served in many callings throughout the years; such as visiting teaching supervisor and Smithfield Stake Relief Society secretary. Blanch loved to garden. She also enjoyed painting, reading, arts and crafts and netting. She especially enjoyed being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan McGraw, Perry, Utah; Edith Walk, Taylorsville, Utah; and 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and a grandchild. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Smithfield City Cemetery, 300 East Center Street, Smithfield, Utah.
