"When you're smiling, when you're smiling, the whole world smiles with you." Beverly Johnson Wheeler will always be remembered for her beautiful smile that brought so much happiness to other people. She passed away in Logan Regional Hospital of unexpected illnesses on October 13, 2014.
Beverly was born in Brigham City, Utah, on September 28, 1928, to Heber K. and Ora Mecham Johnson. She and her sisters, Beatrice Anderson and Lila Crowther with cousins Doris Gehardt and Fae Adams, were best friends and shared hundreds of good times and heartaches. Her early years were spent at the Millionairre Duck Club in Corrine, Utah. She loved the freedom it offered and spent many hours enjoying the simple life.
She attended primary schools in Brigham City. In elementary school, she met "Johnny," the cutest boy she had ever seen. She kept track of him throughout many years and met her goal of being sealed to John LaNay Wheeler, a prominent Cache Valley funeral director, in the Logan LDS Temple on June 20, 1949. They were blessed with four children: Susan Lanet, Gregory John Julie, Paul Johnson Christine, and Edward stillborn. They also had 12 grandchildren 1 deceased and great-grandchildren 23, 2 deceased whom she adored.
She was a beautician and left her clients with a beautiful hairstyle and an uplifted spirit for the day. Each year the family spent time camping. Bev liked to have what she needed, when she needed it, so she simply packed an entire dresser of clothes in the trailer and they headed for the hills. These camping trips were shared with extended family and they made close family ties.
She loved to sing, play her clarinet, dance, tell great stories, fish, listen to tapes and CDs, and made the best toast and popcorn in the world. She hated mice and injustice. She was forgiving, kind, caring, giving, loving and a calm-from-the-storm for anyone who needed help. She refused to speak ill of anyone, even those who wronged her. She judged no one and was a true example of Christ-like love.
Above all, Bev loved her Heavenly Father and served Him with all her heart and soul. Throughout her life, she served in many different callings, working with all ages of people and inspiring them with her testimony. She faced many challenges, but met them all with faith and courage.
She was an enthusiastic supporter of those she loved and couldn't sit still for a minute if she thought someone was in need. We will miss our exuberant Energizer Bunny!
