Betty Jane Hansen

October 27, 1938 — December 3, 2013

Betty Jane Hansen passed away December 3, 2013 in Logan, Utah. Betty was born October 27, 1938 in Logan, Utah as the fourth daughter of Edgar and Bessie Hansen. She is survived by her sister Pauline Lloyd Schiffman of Roy, Utah, Marilyn Louis Benavides of Smithfield, Utah as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Thea.
Betty was a choice spirit. She was courageous in her battle with muscular dystrophy which robbed her of many activities which she loved to participate in. Betty was employed as a secretary of the Utah State Water Research Lab for 40 years where she made many friends. As an active member of the LDS church she served as Sunday school secretary and ward librarian. Betty was an avid reader and loved her local library.
Honoring her request there will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held at the Smithfield City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the Smithfield City Friends of the Library. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com
A special thanks to Legacy House and Encompass Hospice for their tender and gentle care. And thanks also to Tammy Ellis who gave Betty such loving care.
