Tremonton, UT ? Bessie Scoffield Calderwood quietly left this life to greet her husband Richard, Saturday evening, July 8, 2006. She was born July 24, 1909 to Corilla Flint and George Scoffield in Layton, Utah. She married Richard A. Calderwood November 27, 1929, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived and reared their family, three sons and two daughters, on their family farm in Tremonton. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she provided service in the Relief Society, Primary, MIA and served as a Visiting Teacher for well over 65 years. She worked for a long time in both the Ogden and Logan Temples. Working as a School Lunch Cook for the Box Elder County School District, she retired after years of dedicated service. Bessie was known for beautiful quilts and afghans, crocheting and sewing, candy and food, all the great skills of a consummate homemaker. A classy woman with the elegance and dignity that comes from many years of overcoming and subduing the challenges of life, Bessie is an ever-shining example of refinement and unconditional love. Service was her watchword. Bessie is survived by her children: Dr. Richard D. Calderwood Pat, Eagar, AZ; Robert T. Calderwood Jessie, Datil, NM; David G. Calderwood Della, Round Rock, TX; Carmen John Southern, West Valley City, UT; Kayla Jim Phillips, West Valley City, UT; 25 Grandchildren and 60 Great Grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Robbins, Ada Dewey and Bernice Beck, and brothers, Roland Scoffield and Don Scoffield. Preceded in death by husband, parents, and seven brothers: Spencer, Merrill, Seymour, Chester, Richard, Max and Newell. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 14, 2006, at 11 AM in the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 N. 300 E. Tremonton, UT. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, UT and Friday from 9:00-10:30 AM at the church. Interment at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the healthcare professionals and all who worked to see that Bessie was comfortable and her needs met in the autumn of her life.
