Bertha ReNae Firth Hortin

Honeyville - B. ReNae Firth Hortin passed away peacefully Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Brigham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brigham City, UT.
ReNae was born February 21, 1930 in Bothwell, UT to Earl Matthew Firth and Bertha Ann Ray, the youngest of six children. ReNae married Don Dee Hortin in the Logan LDS Temple on November 21, 1951. Dee and ReNae moved to Honeyville, UT in 1961 and raised their children there.
ReNae grew up on a farm and helped with many chores in the home and in the fields. She graduated from Bear River High School in 1948 and attended Utah State University where she met Dee.
She completed her Bachelor?s Degree in Home Economics and later received her Master?s Degree in Home Economics. She taught at Bear River High School in the Home Ec. Department for 22 years, retiring in 1992. She served as an Advisor to the Future Homemakers of America for several years. ReNae and Dee served an LDS Mission to Independence, MO for one year from January 1993-94.
She was an active member of the LDS Honeyville 1st Ward serving in many capacities in the ward and stake. Dee and ReNae enjoyed doing Extraction and Temple work in more recent years. ReNae was an excellent homemaker, cook, and seamstress. ReNae and Dee enjoyed traveling throughout the United States on school assignments or with family members. Bear Lake and Paris, ID were a favorite camping place for all the family. ReNae is survived by her five children: Holly Doug Lineback, Chris Tanjalyn Hortin, Dixie Paul Yoder, Barry Debbie Hortin, and Cole Lee Hortin; 22 grandchildren and 12 ½ great-grandchildren; brothers, LeRoy Firth and Dee Firth. ReNae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don Dee Hortin; brother, John Ray Firth; and sisters, Margie Staples and Vera Fuller. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Honeyville LDS Ward Chapel, 2620 West 6980 North, Honeyville, UT, with Bishop Boyd Bingham officiating. Friends and family may call on Monday, October 15th, 2007 from 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT, and also from 9:30 ? 10:45 a.m at the Honevyille church. Interment will be at Bothwell Valleyview Cemetery. Special thanks from the family are given to the wonderful staff at Country Lane Assisted Living Center, Alpine Hospice of Brigham City, and Brigham Nursing and Rehabilitation.
