Bertha Naomi Roderick Johnson

Thatcher, UT – Bertha Naomi Roderick Johnson, 93, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008. She was born June 29, 1915 in Portage, UT to Isaac P. and Bertha Naomi John Roderick. Bertha grew up in Portage and graduated from Bear River High School. She also lived in Malad, Pocatello and Salt Lake City before settling in Thatcher after she was married. She married LaVar Moroni Johnson June 11, 1938 in Ogden. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple June 26, 1940. LaVar died August 3, 1979.
Bertha loved to crochet, read the scriptures and read good LDS books.
She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions, including Primary President and teacher, Young Women's President and teacher and stake missionary.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Lou Ed Abel, Orem, UT and one son, Norman Kaye Toni Johnson, Thatcher-Penrose, UT; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five great, great-grandchildren and one sister, Floe Renae Gardner, Pocatello, ID.
Preceding her in death are her husband, three sisters: Margeret, Lavon and Ruth; three brothers: Henry, Deon and William; her parents and one granddaughter, Cami Sue Nelson
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thatcher-Penrose LDS Chapel, 11475 West 10400 North, Thatcher with Bishop Lanny Lewis officiating. Family and friends may call Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Wednesday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment at Bothwell Valley View Cemetery.
