Bernice Lewis Hall Cluff

May 6, 1914 — August 14, 2012

On the morning on August 14, 2012 Bernice H Cluff, 98 passed from her life of love & service to her next calling. Bernice was born on May 6, 1914 in Salt lake City, Ut. She was the fourth child in a family of 10, born to Albert E & Pearl Lewis Hall. She was raised in SLC & graduated from East High School. She has always had beautiful penmanship and was a talented typist and stenographer. She worked at the telephone company in SLC from 1936-38. She married Charles G Cluff in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1938. They were later divorced. Their five children are, Charles, Sue, Joy, Nancy, and Robert. She has 25 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren. She helped raise two step-children, Don and Luana.. From their family she has 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. She has lived in SLC, UT, Cache Jet., UT for 20 years and has lived in Logan, UT the past 50 Years. She enjoyed living at Williamsburg the last eight years and made many lasting friendships that she will always cherish. Bernice was instrumental in starting the Cache Area Sociable Group in 1965, and helped plan many dances and activities. She received training as a secretary and graduated from the manpower development training program at USU in 1969. She has worked for the IRS, Soil Conservation, and after 12 years retired from the US Forest Service in 1983. She was quite a golfer in her day and loved it. Throughout her life she has enjoyed drama, music, dancing, genealogy, taking organ lessons. She loved spending time with her family, they were her proudest accomplishment.. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served all of her life in many capacities of different organizations. She served a full time LDS Mission in the Missouri St. Louis Mission from 1985-86 while in her 70's. Her mission president said she grew younger that year. She was fun! She had a quick wit and humor. She wrote and performed a rap/tap dance for her 85th Birthday. She always made Christmas special and she still liked to dress up for Halloween. Daily crossword puzzles kept her mind sharp. We loved the riddles she wrote in our birthday cards. She was a wonderful cook and over the years she has been known for her yummy cinnamon rolls, lemon meringue and pumpkin pies, caramels and roast beef dinners. Mom led an extraordinary life. As a single mom she has accomplished much, sacrificed much, has been a true and faithful servant of the Lord and has been the greatest example and influence for good in our lives. Bernice was a wonderful mother and grandmother, always loving us, teaching us to serve the Lord and do what is right. She is survived by a daughter-in-law Rebecca Cluff;, Yakima W A; Sue Jay Brown, Centennial, CO; Joy Joe Larsen, Newton UT.;Nancy Courtney Obray, Avon, UT ; Robert Cluff North Logan, UT.; a sister Phyllis Helton, Fullerton CA, and many others who call her Grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Edith Hall, Ruth Wall, Beth Tuttle and Gladys Davis and four brothers, Edward, Grant, Ivan, and Frank Hall, a son Charles G Cluff, a step son Don Cluff, a step daughter Luana Mitchell, a son-in-law Scott Hadfield, a grandson Reese Cluff" two great grandsons; Casey Larsen and Jonah Noble. The family would like to thank Integrity Home Health and Hospice, especially Dana Whitaker, for their loving care the last couple of weeks. Special thanks to Scott Monson and all residents and staff at Williamsburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday August 18, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Willow Valley Chapel 800 N 200 W Logan, UT. A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM- 12:30 PM prior to the funeral at the same location. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the LDS Church perpetual education fund.
