Berneice Anderson Larsen

SMITHFIELD-- In loving memory of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Berneice Anderson Larsen, 82, died peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side on January 12, 2002, due to complications related to congestive heart failure. Berneice was born February 13, 1919, to Otto W. Anderson and Isabell Lowe Anderson in Grace, Idaho. She had one brother, Sherman Anderson, who loved, treasured, and protected his sweet little sister. This was hard to accomplish because Berneice was full of spunk. Berneice attended schools in Grace, Idaho and Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah. She enjoyed her studies there and her involvement in the Theta U sorority. Her college days were filled with rich experiences as she enjoyed the company of many friends and classmates at all of the university activities and dances. She was the life of the party. Berneice fell in love with and married Edward J. Larsen on January 2, 1941 in the Logan Temple. This year marked 61wonderful years together. We thank our dear father for taking such good care of our sweet mother. Berneice and Edward had 5 children; Marie, Joyce, Karen, Jeannie, and Roger. Her love for her children was shown through her gentle example and valiant spirit. She is now reunited with two sweet daughters, her Jeannie-Bug and Marie. Berneice was active in the LDS church all of her life and served in all of the different organizations. She was a member of the Joseph Smith Camp of the Daughters of Pioneers. Berneice also served for 15 years at the Logan Genealogical Society and delighted in her interaction with those she served with during her time there. She invested many hours researching her family lines and has shared this priceless history with her relatives. She always loved to collect histories and pictures. Berneice loved to sew and her friends always praised her ability to fashion frilly little dresses for her 4 little girls and outfits for her son. With her 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren she always made sure each one had something especially made for them. One of her special talents was to crochet baby afghans, sweater sets, and booties. Nearly every one of these little babies have worn some of Grandma Berneice?s sleepers, booties, or blankets home from the hospital. Berneice?s new hobby at the young age of 80 was to conquer her brand new computer. She spent many thoughtful hours arranging the lives of her loved ones in special books of remembrance. She loved to learn all she could to keep up with the latest thing and always succeeded. She enjoyed a lifetime of learning. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward J.; three children, Joyce Lyle Coleman, Smithfield, Karen Gary Anthon, Smithfield, and Roger Paulette, Brigham City; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her parents, brother Sherman Anderson, and two daughters Jeannie Jensen and Marie Richards preceded her in death. Oh mother dear, we love you so, And no one can take your place. How much we love to hear your voice, and see your loving face. Today mom, on this peaceful day we want to pay tribute to you? And let you know, No other family could love you more than we do. Berneice, you ran life?s race with a smile on your face? determined to endure to the end. Though those old hills were rough you proved you were tough and showed us all the way Our dear wife, our mom, our friend. Now in heaven you?ll reign finally free from your pain, joyfully being with family you hold dear. And we who are left here on earth will be proud of our birth?and know we?ll be with you again. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 15, 2002, at the Smithfield 9th Ward Chapel, 155 West 400 North, with Bishop LaMont Poulsen conducting. Friends and family may call on Monday, January 14th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and on Tuesday at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services.
