Barry David White

October 6, 1947 — April 22, 2023

Barry David White passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 22, 2023, at the age of 75. As we knew his time was short, one of the greatest miracles is that he was able to have his spouse, all of his children, many grandchildren, and other family members able to see him and share their love before he passed. There were many tender mercies and blessings of joy and peace for Barry and all of his loved ones in his last days.

Barry was born on October 6th, 1947, in Long Beach, California to Vern Ray and Clara Lee (Packer) White. He was the third of four children, born six minutes before his identical twin brother, Byron. At age 6, his family moved and settled down in Bend, Oregon. His childhood was spent being mischievous with Byron, and they spent a lifetime as best friends. He spent his early years on “Grand Adventures” with his parents and siblings and earned a great love for the outdoors from an early age. Barry attended Bend High School and graduated with the class of 1966.

He was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At 19 years old, he was called to serve a 2 year mission to the Central British England mission. He spent his life committed to serving others. Shortly after returning home from his mission, he joined the Army National Guard where he dedicated 28 years of service and sacrifice. He was a man of faith who loved his God and loved his country. One of the biggest joys of his life was serving in the Boy Scouts of America program, where he used his skills and talents to bless others. He was so impactful to his own sons, grandsons, and countless young men over the years that many of them refer to him as their “hero,” helping shape the great men they became.

Barry met Christina May Hebdon while they both attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. They were married in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on February 19th, 1971. Together they had five children: one daughter and four sons. They settled down in Smithfield, Utah where they were part of the 8th Ward and have many fond memories and everlasting friendships. After losing his beloved Tina in 2007, he met his new sweetheart, Mona Louise Southwick , and they were married in the Draper, Utah LDS Temple on July 20, 2011. Shortly after, they moved to Wellington, Utah where they built a home and life together. Barry spent his free time gardening, painting, camping, and creating many cherished memories with his wife and grandchildren who adored him. He was a great man, devoted husband, loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed, until we meet again.

Barry is survived by his loving wife, Mona, his five children MarLee (Randy) Shumway, Daniel (Cindy) White, Aaron (Jaime) White, Rex (Jamie) White, Joshua (Tiffanie) White, Mona’s children, Kalem (Autum) Ison, Jeremy (Jill) Ison, and Kendra (Russ) Seeley, 35 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, with one on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Clara Lee, his first wife, Christina, and great-granddaughter, Kennadi.
