Barbara Hickman Daley was born to Warren Earl and Alta Pack Hickman on December 29, 1920 in Stone, Idaho. She passed away in Bountiful, Utah on February 6, 2004 due to age related conditions.
Barbara was the middle child. Her older brother, Blaine, now lives in Ogden, Utah. Her younger sister, Veda, lived in Hermiston, Oregon. They grew up on a ranch in Stone, Idaho. She attended school there and later Bear River High School in Tremonton. She loved the ranch and the horses. She learned early to ride and was her dad's right hand girl. She later attended Cerritos Junior College in California.
She married Lot Smith in 1937. They had three children. Vella Ann, Philip, and Barbara Nadene. They divorced in 1944. October 16, 1945 Barbara married her eternal sweetheart, Elden LeRoy Daley. They were married in Snowville, Utah, later their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Elden moved his new family to southern California. They were very devoted parents. They shared their home with several family members and friends over the years. They had been married 50 years when Elden passed away in 1996.
Barbara was very active in the LDS church. She was Relief Society President in Compton and Bellflower, California. She also enjoyed working with the Young Women. When she moved back to Utah, she was again called to be the Relief Society President two more times. She loved to serve others.
Barbara and Elden lived eleven years in Hurricane, Utah as the caretakers of Berry Springs Ranch. They returned to Snowville to live out their lives near their friends and relatives Three years ago she became ill and had to move to assisted living. We appreciate the skilled care that was given to her during that time. Barbara is survived by her three children Vella Woods, Brigham City, Utah, Philip and Trudi Daley of Deseret Hills Arizona and Barbara Jones of Bountiful, Utah, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, her parents, her sister Veda Rankin of Hermiston, Oregon and her son-in-law Jim Jones.
A viewing will be held Thursday, February 12, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home at 111 N. 100 East, Tremonton, Utah. Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 13 at the Curlew Ward House in Snowville, Utah at 11 a.m. Mom we love you.
