Arthur Cruse Pease

May 15, 1919 — August 9, 2003

Arthur Cruse Pease, 84, of Hyrum Utah, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Saturday, August 9, 2003. Art was born on May 15th, 1919 in Thatcher, Arizona to Asa and Maude Cruse Pease. He was raised in Thatcher where he was the tenth of eleven children. Arthur married Lucille Hancock on August 11th, 1938, and would have celebrated their 65th anniversary this week. He loved to work with his hands and spent most of his life as a Building Contractor. He built everything from tree houses for his kids, to beautiful churches scattering the country. Arthur is a Veteran of World War II where he proudly served his country from 1944 through 1946. He was very proud of the freedom this country stands for, and truly understood the sacred nature of her freedom and the flag she flies. Chief, as his family called him, loved to spend his time with Lucille and their kids, camping, hunting deer, and on the lake fishing and water-skiing. As the grandkids started arriving, Art and Lucille felt it very important to involve them in the same activities. His kids, grandkids, and great grandkids will always remember the family reunions, in the Uintah Mountains, and at Lake Powell. Arthur was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and will always be remembered as a great missionary serving as the Stake Mission President for the Cache Stake for many years. Arthur and Lucille were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, where they later returned and served as temple workers. Chief is survived by his wife, Lucille Hancock Pease, and their 6 children: Arthur J. Susan Pease, Vernal UT; Louise Mike Young, Smithfield, UT; Steven Carole Pease, Victor, ID; Linda Maurice Wiberg, Hyrum, UT; Nathan Angie Pease, Smithfield, UT; Jeffery Carolynn Pease, Smithfield, UT; 37 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren. Art is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and grandson, Steven Todd. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 12:00 Noon at the Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, UT. The viewings will be held on Tuesday, Aug 12, 2003, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home and also prior to the services on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Internment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
