Ara Conger Nielson

Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Ara Conger Nielson was joyfully re-united with her beloved husband, Roger December the 14th, 2009 Ara passed away at the home. Ara was born at this same home, affectionately known as "The Conger Farm" on March 4 1923. She was the second daughter of three girls born to W. R. and Adna Frasier Conger. Ara grew up in a musical family, after long days of working the farm, the family often gathered together to sing and play musical instruments. She graduated from Bear River High School and was senior class secretary. While waiting for Roger to return from the US Army, she worked at First Security Bank, in Brigham City, Utah. Ara and her sisters Ione and Merle were known as "The Conger Sisters", sharing their musical talents with the servicemen at Bushnell Hospital, the girls were offered the opportunity to tour with the U.S.O to entertain the troops during the war, but Ara chose to wait for Roger, and became his bride January 12, 1942. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She traveled with Rog as they were stationed at Camp Pendelton and Fort Lewis, Washington. After the war, they bought their home in Garland Utah, where they raised six children. In 1970 she and Rog purchased the Conger farm, where she worked side by side with Rog until his health declined. He passed away Dec 7, 1983. They shared 42 wonderful years together. Ara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served many years as the ward chorister and choir director. She will be remembered always for her outstanding example to all that knew her, and scattered sunshine wherever she went. Her children express their love and gratitude for providing a home of happiness, for being a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Our family appreciates the loving care given by Dave and Pat through the years, and especially that of our sweet aides, Tanya, Stacy, Julie and Miranda. Hospice nurses Ryan, Kami, and Linda, and the loving care of Dr. Jan-Erik Schow.
Ara is survived by her six children and their spouses Roger E. Karla, Anita Joseph Cohen, Warren A.Coni, Don R., David G. Patricia, Marlaine Chasey Mitchell. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and Brothers Warren, Art, Harold, Keith, Lisle, Leo and Leon Conger; her sisters, Ione Larsen and Merle Meyer, one grandson in-law, Joseph Hone, one grandson Douglas G. Nielson and two Great-Grandsons; Morgan D. and Garett Jeremy Giles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday the 19th of December at Rogers and Taylor funeral home, located at 111 North 100 East in Tremonton. Friends and family may call at 9:15 ? 10:45 prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Garland City Cemetery.
