Annie Christensen Sorensen

November 3, 1913 — April 12, 2004

Annie Ann Christensen Sorensen, our dear mother, grandmother and sister returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father at her home on Monday, April 12, 2004. May she rejoice in this heavenly reunion and live on in our hearts.
Ann was the sixth of sixteen children born to Joseph George and Annie Petersen Christensen in Clarkston, Utah, on November 3, 1913. She graduated from North Cache High School where she played the clarinet in the school band.
While working as a nurse's aid, she met Sidney Christian Sorensen of East Garland when she was caring for his mother. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple May 17, 1939 and are the parents of three children. They worked side by side on their family dairy farm in East Garland until the time of Sid's death in 1987. She has been an active member of the East Garland LDS Ward for many years.
Ann had a special talent for music. Although she never had any training, she was able to play many instruments by ear. Many a party, whether it be family or church, was more fun because of her music. Her ukulele and accordion were always close at hand; her piano was a favorite gathering place. She was ward chorister for twenty-two years and Primary chorister for twenty-eight.
She enjoyed sports and followed them closely. Embroidery, genealogy and crossword puzzles were also activities that interested her. She'd never say no to a game of 7-up with her grandkids. Her family has special memories of their weenie roasts on the farm, her pork chops and milk gravy and their Kazoo bands. She is the Husker Du champion of the family!
Ann is loved by all who knew her and she will be remembered always for her wonderful sense of humor and caring nature. She was strong and always rolled with the ups and downs of life, never complaining and ever optimistic. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother, always interested in what her children and grandkids were doing.
Surviving Ann are her two sons and one daughter; Ferrin Alfreda Sorensen, East Garland; Chris Brenda Sorensen, Brigham City and Cathy Paul Gage, Vancouver, Washington. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Six of her sisters and brothers survive her; Trena Larsen, Mantua, UT, David Christensen, Ogden, UT, Ned Christensen, Eugene, OR, Leslie Christensen, McGill, NV, Dora Ricks and Colleen Clark of Kearns, UT. Preceding her in death were her husband, Sid and nine of her brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank Alfreda, her daughter-in-law, for the vigilant care she has given Ann through the years, most particularly the last few. She has been a Godsend. Thanks to Kimberly for helping Grandma and, to Cathy, thank you for the loving care as Ann prepared for this last journey. Appreciation goes also to Dr. Lynn Beard and IHC Hospice for their fine care of our dear Ann and to Meals on Wheels for their service.
