Annie Orilla Peterson Hunsaker

Annie Peterson Hunsaker Thatcher/Logan ? Annie Peterson Hunsaker, 91, formerly of Logan, UT, died March 6, 2002, in Layton, UT, at the home of her granddaughter, of complications due to diabetes and old age. She was born April 2, 1910, in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Gustavus Nils Peterson and Jessie May Andrus. She graduated from UCLA in Mathematics and was pursuing a Master?s Degree in Mathematics at Berkeley, but was stopped short due to tuberculosis. She met Neville Carter Hunsaker at Berkeley and they were married on September 19, 1935, in Los Angeles, CA. They were sealed the following year in the Logan LDS Temple. In 1941, Annie and Neville moved to Logan where Neville taught mathematics at the ?AC?, Utah State University. Annie raised five children and was the household manager of two homes, one in Logan and one at the farm in Whites Valley. Both Annie and Neville were involved in the Faculty Association, and Annie belonged to the Faculty Women?s League, being the President from 1957-58. They supported the Performing Arts Concert Series, rarely missing a symphony concert. They belonged to both the USU Emeriti Association and the Old Main Society. Annie served in various PTA positions while her children were in public schools. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in Primary and Relief Society Presidencies. She loved homemaking and was skilled in many forms of handiwork. She was a wonderful seamstress, creating many lovely dresses without patterns. She loved family history and was an active genealogist as well as the Genealogy Teacher in her ward for many years. Surviving are three sons, two daughters and their families; Worthen and Karen Hunsaker of Carbondale, IL; Calvin and Nancy Hunsaker of Thatcher, UT; Gloria and Mike Dryden of Discovery Bay, CA; Hedy and Chris Eyre of Fremont, CA; Jesse and Diane Hunsaker of Alpine, UT; along with 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She has a brother, Bill Peterson, living in Oroville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Neville, her sister Lucy, and one granddaughter, Anne Nicole Hunsaker, formerly of Alpine UT. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at the Thatcher-Penrose Ward Chapel, 11475 West 10400 North. Friends and family may call Friday, March 8th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday March 9th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Thatcher-Penrose Chapel.
