Anna Maughan Durfey, 89, passed away of natural causes on June 18, 2004, at the Autumn Living Assisted Care in Tremonton, Utah. She was born to Mary Walters and Archibald Hill Maughan, on October 26, 1914. Anna was the youngest and last survivor, of seven children, four sisters and two brothers. She attended elementary school in Wellsville, Utah, and graduated from Seminary in 1930 and South Cache High School in 1931, where she was active in musical productions and plays. Anna married Joseph L. Durfey in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1933. They were blessed with one son, Joseph Norman Durfey. They made their home in Beaver Dam, Utah, where they owned and operated their farm. Joe also worked for Utah Power & Light Co. and retired after 32 years of service. Anna loved the Church and gave many years of service, both stake and ward levels. She loved music and loved teaching the gospel through music to the primary children. She was a chorister in all the organizations as well as president of the Relief Society and a counselor in the Stake Relief Society. She brought happiness to a lot of people with her beautiful voice, and comfort in times of sorrow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, who passed away June 22, 1995. She is survived by her son, Joseph Norman Marilyn Durfey, Bountiful, Utah, grand-daughter Kristina, and great grand-sons, Jason Dean Wheeler and Cory James Wheeler, a sister-in-law, LaVern Maughan, Wellsville, Utah, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., in the Beaver Dam LDS Chapel, in Beaver Dam, Utah. There will be a viewing at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East in Tremonton, Utah, Wednesday, June 23 from 6-8 p.m., also Thursday, June 24, from 9:30-10:30 at the Beaver Dam LDS Chapel.
