Ann Kristine Jahanson Bates

February 10, 1941 — May 29, 2022

t is with great sorrow to announce the death of a wonderful woman Ann Kristine Johanson Bates. Ann was living at the Rocky Mountain Care facility in Logan Utah where she passed away peacefully in her sleep. While Ann had Alzheimer’s, she passed from complications due to an infection.

Ann was born on February 10, 1941 to Sigvard and Fannie Johanson in Ärla, Sodermanland, Sweden. Ann was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.

In 1948 her family sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to come to America. She was a young girl but still remembered the feeling of making it to the New York Harbor and seeing the Statue of Liberty for the first time.

Ann was one of the strongest, most courageous, kindest women to walk this earth, we were blessed to have her as the glue of our family. Ann was a wonderful loving Mother, not only to her children but to many others that she came to know and love over many years.

In 1959 She met her husband, Jan Bates. Together they went on the have 4 children. Monte Bjorn, Hayden Ferret, Bambi Deleen and Sunnie Dawn. Their names showed what a unique couple they were.

Ann loved to watch sports. Football was her favorite. She knew all about the sport. The teams, the players and their stats. She also loved watching Basketball. She had her favorite players but she was always a Utah Jazz fan. When it came to College teams, she was

proud BYU all the way.

Ann loved her profession in the Hospitality and Restaurant industry. She started managing restaurants in Alaska with the Sizzler franchise. She moved to Casper Wyoming and ran her own restaurant named Peaches for 10 years. In 1987 Ann and family moved to Jackson Wyoming. There she became Owner/Operator of the Teton Steakhouse. She loved to work. She loved the community and was recognized for providing the annual free Thanksgiving dinner along with her husband Jan, her kids and the Many amazing volunteers that helped. She was a very caring and loving woman.

When Jan’s health took a turn for the worse they had relocated to West Jordan Utah. They stayed there for a couple of years. They both got to a point where they needed full-time health care. It was important to keep them in the beautiful mountains. They moved to Logan Utah. She lived at Rocky Mountain Care facility. She was loved and adored by all the Administrators, Nurses, CNA’s and a lot of the residents that became great friends to her.

Ann was predeceased by her Mother and Father, her Husband Jan D Bates, her son, Hayden Bates (45) daughter, Bambi Bates (18 mos), and her granddaughter , Renee Bates Smith (40). Her Brothers, Karl, Ben, Brent and Ronnie Johanson, her Sister Cherstin Johanson Carlson, Roger Carlson (brother in law)and Rockne Bates (brother in law).

Ann is survived by her son Monte Bates(Marilyn) daughter Sunnie Bates Sanderson (Timothy II) daughter in law Jackie Bates and Darren Bates, nephew. She has 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, her brothers are LeeRoy Johanson(Paula) and Daniel Johanson (Jenny).

Along with too many other loving family members to list.

Ann will be missed very much.
