Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Angela Sealy Bird, 90, passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2023, at her home in Mendon, Utah surrounded by her loving family.
Angela, well known as “Angie” was born on February 17th, 1933, in Logan Utah to Leon and Rachel Sealy. She was the youngest of 6 children with two sisters and three brothers. She graduated from Logan High School in 1951.
Angie was set up on a blind date, with a handsome man named Karl Bird. After dating for less than a year, they were married and sealed in the Logan Temple on June 26th, 1953. They started their family in Logan, and following Karl’s military service they moved to Salt Lake City. They continued growing their family and returned to Cache Valley. They built their forever home in Mendon where she resided for the last 54 years.
Angie worked in the Albertson’s bakery, retiring after 30 years. There she had many repeat customers and made lifelong friends. She was a wonderful seamstress, cook, and homemaker. She made many of her children’s clothing, from play clothes to prom dresses. She was a wonderful cook, and never made a dinner without making dessert. She had a love for shopping and was always on the hunt for the next great bargain.
She and Karl enjoyed golfing and traveling together. Their adventures took them to many great places and states. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved serving in many callings throughout her life. She worked with Karl in the Logan Temple Baptistry until her health declined.
Angie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Karl Bird, parents, Leon and Rachel Sealy, and in-laws, Afton and Pearl Bird, as well as her siblings and in-laws, Eva (Lowell) Summers, Ruth (Christian) Nielsen, Milton (Shirley) Sealy, Denton Sealy, Ramon Sealy, and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sister in-laws, Marva Sealy (Denton), and Joan Sealy (Ramon), five children: Karen (Phillip) Zobell, Denise Wilson, Michelle Sorensen, Kevin (Kris) Bird, and Kristi (Gen) Bird. She was a grandmother to 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 21st at the Old Mendon Church, 20 N. 100 W. Mendon, UT from 10:00-11:30 AM. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Graveside services will take place at the Mendon City Cemetery.
