Brigham City, UT: Alvern Wilbur Davis, 92, devoted and cherished husband, father, grandpa, uncle, brother and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Friday, July 8th, 2011 in Brigham City, UT. He was born March 28, 1919 to James Edward and Anna Christina Davis in Terminal Island, CA. He was the fifth of seven children. Alvern served in the US Army during World War II, with the 271st Field Artillery BN, 1st Calvary Division. He was also a member of Brigham City, UT VFW Post 1695. He married Asenath Walser in the Mesa, AZ Temple March 28, 1946 they were married for 55 years. She preceded him in death July 28, 2001. Alvern married Margie Ann Chandler, Oct 12, 2002 in the Ogden LDS Temple, a kind and compassionate wife of over eight years. Alvern joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while serving his country and remained a faithful member. His faith was tested and grew through the severe trials of life and his fulfillment of many church callings. He retired from the Defense Depot Ogden and from LDS Church employment. He loved attending the Temple, reading the scriptures, and serving others. He was truly a kind and gentle man. His family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to members of the River Ward, neighbors, and Love Hospice for their care during the last few months of his life. Surviving is his wife: Margie; his children: Samuel Robin Davis, Marcelene Allen Meese, Rhonda Ken Personette, Gwendolyn James Moulton, Loralei Lori, Brenda Phil Moulton, sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren as well as Margie's seven children; Mark Myrna, Mel Sandy, Jerry Lynn, Kellie, Phillip Shawn, Carl, and Lance Carmen, Borup. Also surviving are one sister, Kathlyn Donal Mcwhirter and one brother, Ted Velda Davis. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the River Ward Chapel, 531 N. 100 W., Brigham City, UT. Friends may call Wednesday, July 13, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 East, Tremonton; and Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. Interment will follow in the Bear River City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
