Alex Robert Meikle

July 3, 1986 — August 26, 2006

Alex Meikle passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006, on top of a mountain while awaiting to experience a dream he and his father were lucky enough to be sharing together. His parents, Robert and Maria Meikle, regret saying good-bye, but are grateful to have been blessed with 20 short years of knowing and loving him. Alex was born and raised in Cache Valley where he received his schooling and graduated in 2004. He grew up on a farm and knew the meaning of work. He enjoyed being outdoors; he never was a fan of a suit and tie, he would much rather have been out in the fields on a tractor or working with some of his animals that ranged from dogs and horses to pigs and llamas. If he was not working, you could find him on a horse, motorcycle, snowmobile, or out ?diggin??, and many times, camping. All of these brought him great joy. He loved doing all of these things with his family and friends and always looked forward to when he could go again. Alex enjoyed being with his friends and shared a good deal of time with them. He could often be found at the TV ?exercising? his thumbs while challenging his brother to a game of basketball. He was very good to his siblings: his sister, Amanda Andi and brother J.R. Frog are proud to say he is their brother. Many tears have been shed as they feel a great void in their lives from his passing. Alex will be missed, especially when hunting season comes around again and the sound of practicing bugle calls has one less whistle; when the snow starts falling, there will be one less snowmobile track to follow; when the horses have just been shoed and there is one less saddle to cinch up, or when there is hay to be baled and there is one less person to help. We will miss his quiet demeanor, sly sense of humor, teasing way and gentle kisses good-bye. Alex is survived by his parents; his brother, Frog, and sister, Andi; his grandparents, Ralph and Marlene Meikle, all of Smithfield; and grandparents, Orson and Maureen Wilson of Young Ward; along with many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, September 1, 2006 at the Smithfield 10th Ward Chapel, 345 East 300 South, Smithfield, Utah. Friends and family may call Thursday evening, August 31, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan and Friday morning at the church form 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will take place at the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
