Smithfield ? Aleen Nielsen Facer returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband on March 11, 2003. She was born November 19, 1908 in Hyrum, Utah. She married Ray Theodore Facer on October 11, 1928 in Hyrum, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She is the last remaining child of Andrew Henry Nielsen and Annie Georgina Johansen.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers, her sweetheart of 70 years, three grandchildren and a precious daughter-in-law. Aleen was always so hard working. She and Ray lived on a farm the first few years of their marriage and she cooked three big meals for farm workers every day and baked six loaves of bread each day. This prepared her for her life with nine children to care for. Those children are: Carol Glade Davis, Providence; Coy Jim Elsmore, Preston; Rae Clyde Butterfield, Herriman, Utah; Mae Jerry Purser, Logan; Ted Shirleen Facer, Alta Loma, California; Richard Judy Facer, Smithfield; Lloyd Jerry Facer, Smithfield; Lynn Facer, Smithfield; and Sheri Khalil Godfrey, Clarkston. She also has 38 grandchildren, 112 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren. Aleen has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many positions including counselor in the Relief Society Presidency, Secretary to the Stake Young Women and she also worked in the extraction program and did temple work. She was a member of the Lady Lions Club for many years and loved serving many luncheons and parties. Her husband and children were her most treasured jewels and she served them with love and devotion. She loved to garden and was a delightful writer. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor. She was a lady in every sense of the word and enjoyed her role as a woman. She was a great example to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed. We love you Mother! Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the Smithfield 7th Ward Chapel, 79 East 200 South.
