Alan Georges DeBruin

December 10, 1958 — September 7, 2006

Alan Georges DeBruin, returned to the presence of his Father in Heaven on September 7, 2006. Alan was born December 10, 1958 in Murray, Utah to Adrianus Gerardus and Marie Camille Antionette Gaillard DeBruin, the youngest of five children. He attended Sky View High School and graduated in 1976. After graduation he served a full-time LDS mission in Roanoke, Virginia. Following his mission, Alan obtained his own business, A & H Trucking and Son Inc., hauling milk from local dairymen to Gossner Foods in Logan, Utah. He married his eternal companion, Heidi Maughan, on November 14, 1980 in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Newton, Utah and later moved to Mendon, Utah. Alan was an avid sports fan. If he wasn?t on the playing field, you could find him in front of the TV cheering on his favorite teams. He loved playing basketball, camping, hunting, and cycling. He completed the LOTOJA bike race form Logan to Jackson Hole, Wyoming three times in his cycling career. On his last race, he placed first in his category, completing his life-time goal in 9 hours, 7 minutes, and 40 seconds. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Mendon Third Ward. He served in many capacities throughout the years with the majority of his time spent in the Young Mens Program and most recently as Elders Quorum President. Alan was always willing to give up his personal time to give service. His home was always open at anytime to those in need. Alan was a perfect example of selfless service. He was always the first one in line to help whoever was in need and to best serve them. The best word to describe his personality is ?gravity?. His wonderful smile and cheery, upbeat style made everyone want to be around him. We will truly miss him and the way he made light of every situation he encountered, great or small. The thing that Alan loved most of all was being with his family and providing for their needs. After his father passed away, Alan was very involved in caring for his mother and seeing to her needs. His family was his LIFE! He is survived by his wife, Heidi, and four children: Bryson Alan, Amber Marie, Brandy Camille, and Marshall Maughan DeBruin. He is also survived by his mother, Marie DeBruin and his siblings: Andre Jean-Marie Julie DeBruin, Alma Moroni Nancy DeBruin, Nephi Emanuel Joni DeBruin, and Barbara Alexandrine Lucienne Mark Bouse. He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian DeBruin. Friends and family may call Sunday evening, September 10, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home located at 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah and Monday, September 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Mendon Stake Center, 476 South 100 East, Mendon, Utah.
