Agnes May Steffenhagen Atkinson Merrill

Agnes May was born March 30, 1909 in Logan, Utah to Karl Albert Steffenhagen and Sarah Ann Christiansen. She was preceeded in death by both parents. Agnes was the eldest of five children. She was preceeded in death by Violet Skinner sister, Arnold Steffenhagen brother and Leora Galloway sister. She is survived by LaVern Skinner sister of North Logan. Agnes worked hard helping her family on the farm. Later in life she learned to wallpaper and paint and she did both of these talents with an artist?s flair. There was always a garden and many flowers at her home. Agnes was blessed with two wonderful families in her lifetime. Her marriage to Orlando N. Atkinson, March 30, 1927. He preceeded her in death. The marriage brought forth five children. Darrell Dee Atkinson deceased, Renee Margie Hulse deceased, and Jerry LaMar Atkinson deceased. She is survived by Albert LaDell Atkinson of Hyrum and Sara Dalice Nilson of Smithfield. Agnes married Harvey H. Merrill December 20, 1946. He preceeded her in death. She was blessed with four stepchildren from this union. She was preceeded in death by Beth Mueller, Lamar Merrill, and Harvey Merrill, Jr., and survived by Barbara Yeates of Logan and Jed Merrill of College Ward. The 93 years of her life have been blessed with a posterity of 18 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. We will greatly miss her and there is a big empty spot in our lives, which only can be filled by our Mother and Grandmother. Her Family Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan with Bishop Scott Allgood conducting. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:00 noon. Burial will be in the Richmond City Cemetery.
