Afton Elaine Ward Williamson Afton passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2012 in Logan Utah.
She was born October 5th, 1931 in Logan Utah to Hubert C. and Phyllis N. Ward. She married Lee S. Williamson on March 16, 1955 in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. They met while both attending U.S.U. and dated for 6 years. Mom patiently waited for Dad to serve 2 years in the Air Force , and they were married 57 wonderful years. She attended Utah State for 2 years and then moved to Salt Lake to attend Salt Lake Business College from which She graduated in the secretarial program. She worked for various departments at Utah State as a Secretary and was the secretary to the manager of J.C. Penny. Mom also worked as a secretary for the Cache County School District at River Heights Elementary for 6 years and Spring Creek Middle School for 15 years. She was a very loving caring person to all the kids and fellow employees at both schools. She was very helpful to everyone she came in contact with. Mom and dad lived in their home in River Heights for 40 years where they raised their 4 children. They always had a beautiful yard and the house was always clean. Mom made sure she cleaned every room every day. She also loved to bake bread and was a great cook. She also loved to knit and chrochet, and play a dice game called Zilch. After mom and dad moved to the Legacy House they continued to play Zilch with a few close friends who came every Monday for many years. Mom was an active member of the L.D.S. church and held various positions over the years.
She is survived by her husband Lee, daughter Sue , Logan, sons Todd Marie, North Logan, Chad, Syracuse , Ut, and Michael, Salt Lake City. Also 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Roselyn and Marjean.
The family would like to thank the staff at Logan Nursing for all their care and especially the staff at Legacy House for everything they have done for mom. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 10th at noon at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North in Logan, with a viewing from 10:00 - 11:30 AM prior to services.
