Afton Taylor Morrison

Afton Taylor Morrison, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Nibley, Utah. She was born March 18, 1914 in Clinton, Utah to George Albert Taylor and Hettie Williams. She spent her youth in Clinton, attending the local schools and graduated from Davis High school. She attended Utah State Agricultural College. She married Earnest Merrill Morrison on July 30, 1936 in the Logan LDS Temple. During their married life, they lived in Berkeley, California; Salt Lake City, Roosevelt, Hyde Park, and Logan, Utah. For the past four years, Afton has resided in Nibley, Utah. Afton enjoyed volunteering for many charitable organizations and being a 4-H leader. Some of her hobbies and interests included oil painting, cooking, sewing, gardening and quilting. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she served in various positions in the Primary, Mutual and Relief Society organizations. She enjoyed participating with the 'Singing Mothers' and ward choirs. She also served as a ward librarian and gave faithful and devoted temple service. She served in the stake name extraction program for many years. Afton is survived by her children: George Betty Morrison, Santaquin, UT; Bonnie Seamons, St. George, UT; Ned Janet Morrison, Hyrum, UT; Kent Ann Morrison, Hyrum, UT; Sandra Mike Adams, Bloomington, IN; and Sherrie Morrison, Nibley, UT.
She is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren, as well as a brother, Paul Ann Taylor and a sister, Mary Fielding Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earnest; a son, Dee Morrison and daughter-in-law, Marilyn; three brothers: George E. Taylor, Vern G. Taylor, Samuel W. Taylor and a sister, Flora Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the Nibley 7th Ward, 2825 South 1000 West, Nibley. Viewing for friends and family from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services . Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery.
