Logan ? Ada Coleman Brown Smith, age 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the Sunshine Terrace Nursing Home, Logan, Utah. She was born December 6, 1904 in Smithfield, Utah. She married Amos Clarence Brown on October 12, 1939. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on October 23, 1941. He died on March 1, 1961. She married Alvin H. Smith on November 16, 1967. He died on September 4, 1974. Ada is the youngest and the last remaining child of Franklin and Mary Cantwell Coleman. She was preceded in death by her husband Amos C. Brown and husband Alvin H. Smith, three sisters and three brothers, 4 nieces and 3 nephews. Ada cared for her mother for several years. She has lived in Logan, Utah since 1944 and has been an active member of LDS Church, having served as a visiting teacher for over 65 years, secretary of the MIA, a teacher in the Sunday School and Primary for 8 years and a member of the Joseph Smith Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She and her husband Amos Brown operated a café in Logan. She worked at the Student Union Cafeteria at USU. Raising beautiful flowers and a lovely vegetable garden, which she shared with her neighbors and friends, kept her very busy. She is survived by two step children: L. Jay Smith and Valora Linneman of Logan; 11 step-grandchildren; 36 step-great grandchildren; 2 step-great-great granchildren; one niece, Sharon H. Craig and 7 nephews: Sherman Coleman, Ralph Lundgreen, Denton Coleman, Denzil Coleman, Lyle Coleman, Ronald Coleman and Paul Coleman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah, with Bishop Mike Jones conducting. Friends and family may call at Nelson Funeral Home in Logan on Friday evening, March 21, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
